I'm a bit confused why my F4s appear to have stopped closing with the ships several minutes ago?

I thought you wanted them to stay out of radar range at Low altitude until the ships were in firing position. The ships have another 6 nm to go. Do you want them to move closer now?

I wanted them to orbit at or near the missile boats so about 25nm from the Sov. If the Russians shoot at me I can duck down to Vlo and their missiles go stupid.

I would point out that the SA-N-7 is capable of engaging VLow targets.

 

At any rate, what's done is done and it's time to party. I count three missiles launched. From the fact that the Sovvie has turned to face us, these are almost certainly SS-N-22s and this is the start of the missile duel. He will almost certainly turn to bring SAMs to bear once those are away.

 

Palang is too far to engage at this time, but may still end being targeted. My personal guess, based on the fact that there are three launches, is that we're getting one missile each. Which suggests a rather high level of confidence in those weapons. Also, there is a possibility that Blue thinks, because they use the same radar (Decca 1226) that my Combattantes are in fact Saam FFGs with only 5 SSMs and if so he's about to have a rather nasty surprise.

 

Better send those F-4s in on their attack runs. I estimate any Sunburns will have a flight time of about a minute at this point; our Harpoons will take three.

 

Orders

 

DD - Turn 90 degrees starboard and proceed at 30 knots. Ready both Mk3 5' guns to engage incoming SSMs and brace for impact. All radars on

Joshan (S010) - Fire all four Harpoon missiles on bearing 186, terminal radar activation after 27nm. All radars on, jammers on and turn 90 degrees starboard.

Gorz (S012) - Fire all four Harpoon missiles on bearing 190, also activating after 27nm. All radars on, jammers on and turn 90 degrees to port.

H016 - Maximum speed direct course for S008 at VLow altitude, fire both AS.12s as soon as in firing range.

 

All units - broadcast Payandeh Bada Iran over Guard at full volume. Prepare to die gloriously.

Yup definitely time to go ballistic.

 

Orders: accelerate to max permissable speed while carrying iron bombs. Stay at Low altitude. Fly directly at Sov. Energise radars and ECM. Take a Sparrow shot at the Hormone if we come within range.

Dylan, I apologize for misunderstanding your intentions. I calculated it would take 3 minutes for the F-4s to catch up to the fleet, so I was going to move them in 3 minutes before missile launch to maximize stealth and surprise.
