January 15, 20179 yr The F-4 group is at 55 nm from the Sov, the helo is about 15 nm away, and the surface fleet is just outside the pre-planned Harpoon firing range of 30 nm. I am now using Engagement Turns. Do you guys have any last minute changes or regrets? turn_1554_5_red.txt turn_1554_5_red_intl.txt
January 15, 20179 yr My orders were that the engagement was not to commence until Palang was in SM-1 range of S005. It's still 12nm away from that range and the missile boats are still five away. I make that a good 24 minutes until we can initiate the full engagement. The fact we have gone to Engagement Turns now suggests that the Blue players are about to engage us first and our whole battle plan is going out the proverbial window. Which means that we are going to have do something slightly different. I can't use the DD in the battle plan and neither of the ship's radars are good enough to detect a missile launch from the Sovvie at this distance. I strongly recommend that the F-4s begin their own attack run. Orders H016 is to immediately fly towards S008 at maximum speed and if it manages to get into firing range, it is to launch its AS.12 missiles. If it is engaged beforehand or gets a visual of S008 firing weapons at us, then the Harpoon engagement plan as described earlier will follow straight away.
January 15, 20179 yr Author I was using engagement turns to get the aircraft/helo ranges as close as possible. Blue player has not reacted to you yet. So, if you want to continue with the original plan, then you still have the ability to do so.
January 16, 20179 yr Hmm, wasn't the helo meant to go down to Vlo as it approached the convoy? Anyway, my F4s will start to move towards S010 in two-and-a-half minutes from now at 500kts and at Low level. Once they reach S010 they are to orbit again until the surface vessels are ready to launch.
January 16, 20179 yr Author I can put it at VLow. I just re-read VLow movement rules and helos are exempt from the crash table.
January 16, 20179 yr Don't think it matters anymore as it has crossed the radar horizon. Leave it as is unless SHUK wants to go Vlo now for some reason.
January 16, 20179 yr Go VLow please; it will reduce the chances of a guns kill on the approach. Also, please have the missile boats turn off their radar.
January 16, 20179 yr Author Ok. Turns out I had the helo at VLow for detection purposes anyway, so the enemy did not see its launch point.
