January 8, 20179 yr The AB-204 Helo launched at 1336. It has reached the P-3 position and is tracking toward the convoy. There are no new air or surface contacts. The P-3 is detecting multiple radar emissions from two of the convoy ships. Please be aware that the Sitrep article lists the AB-212 which has a range of over 300 nm, but the High Tide Annex entry for the Italian AB-204 is only 150 nm. I believe you have an AB-204 for the Sumner ship. I think the F-4 will reach bingo fuel around 1600. That will give it sufficient range to get back to Shiraz AB. turn_1412_red.txt turn_1412_red_intl.txt
January 9, 20179 yr Yes, I do have a AB-204. Please let me know when it is at bingo fuel. Also, the Turn File isn't opening properly - the zoom function isn't working, nor are the range circles. Without them, I can't see the plot clearly enough to give new orders. I get the following error when I open it: See the end of this message for details on invokingjust-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.************** Exception Text **************System.ArgumentException: Add failed. January 9, 20179 yr Author Looks like both sides are having trouble with the turn file. I will look at it when I come home from work tonight.
January 9, 20179 yr In the meantime, Dylan, I may alter course to get my ships closer so they can engage.
January 10, 20179 yr Author I uploaded corrected turn files. Please download them again. The problem is that SimPlot does not update the ESM bearing lines unless they are displayed. I will have to fix that.
January 10, 20179 yr Thanks. That works now. Orders Change course of my ships to 140 and increase speed to 25 knots please. Helicopter is to climb to medium altitude. Please let me know when bearing of the Sovvie is at 175 degrees from my lead missile boat - that will be the point in which it will be time to start our attack run.
January 10, 20179 yr Sure, I'm just mucking about until you get close enough to launch the attack. Are all your F-4s airborne or is it just one?
January 10, 20179 yr Author Given the year of the scenario, I think the Iranians are using the original version of the Harpoon missile, which has a 60 nm range iirc.
January 10, 20179 yr Given the year of the scenario, I think the Iranians are using the original version of the Harpoon missile, which has a 60 nm range iirc. Yes, that is entirely correct. They only got the original version before the 1979 revolution. I am planning to engage from 30nm out to reduce the chances of my missile not hitting its target due to the movement of the enemy vessels. Hence my course change to bring me closer. Once at 175 degrees, I can change course for a flank speed approach towards the Soviet group and engage just before I would appear over the horizon. Actually make that 170 degrees, please.
January 11, 20179 yr I have the other F4s at +5 alert I believe. I will launch them when you get your ships closer.
