December 30, 20169 yr The P-3 radar is on and has picked up 4 new medium surface contacts. The F-4 aircraft are ready to launch with 1 tactical turn notice. turn_1115_red.txt turn_1115_red_intl.txt
December 30, 20169 yr OK, turn the P3 to course 140. Keep the radar on. Do not approach closer than 20nm to the presently detected contacts. Launch one Phantom and have it proceed down the ESM bearing to the Big Bulge B at Low altitude (300m) keeping its radar off at this stage and just visually searching (sorry I don't know how to get the bearing of an ESM line off SIMPLOTVIEWER).
December 30, 20169 yr Author That's okay about the ESM bearing. I will direct the fighter to follow it.
December 30, 20169 yr Ship Orders Change course to 230 while maintaining current formation. Remarks We'll need to positively ID all the contacts before we engage; there is almost certainly a fifth ship out there that we're not close enough to spot. If you've not already added range circles for the Harpoons (60nm) and the Sunburns (50nm) I suggest you do so. (GM: Four medium contacts? Is that correct? Maykop should be Large and both the warships are Small; the Sovvie has a reduced radar cross section. Unless they're not all the merchants we're looking for...)
December 30, 20169 yr Author I may have erred on the Sov. The data annex says size class medium and signature small. If signature is for radar, then you should only see 3 contacts.
December 31, 20169 yr Author You are right about the contact sizes. So, as of 1115, you see one large and two medium contacts in a row.
