Does anyone recall whether any of the "OEM" databases, going back at least to HC Gold, ever have had Phantom IIs with a loadout that had only the four Sparrows and no Sidewinders, as in the case of some of the early F-4 marks)?

Looking through the various versions I have here, going back to the DOS version by 360, I can't find what you describe. All the Air to Air loadouts include both Sparrow and Sidewinder missiles, while the various other loadouts such as Iron Bomb, Anti-runway, Guided, Unguided, etc. have no Sidewinders but only 3 Sparrows.

The F-4D version was introduced without the AIM-9 Sidewinder (later adopting it), but this was in the Vietnam era and I am doubtful if it was ever reflected in OEM databases/scenarios.
