  1. These have already been modeled in the HCDA as small submarines that can only go to periscope depth. They are submarines, however, rather than semi-submersibles, because we cannot currently model surface units with the ability to dive. Brad - thanks. Sorry for the delayed reply, but I couldn't recall if this thread was here or at MatrixGames, so it took me a while to find the breadcrumbs. You say that the SPSS is already modeled? I have the 100208 version of the HCDA. Can you please advise which model it is that you're referring to? Also, it would need to be relatively underarmed, certainly with no torps. I couldn't find any that matched the SPSS. Regards, -Armando
  2. Howdy All, Apologies if this has already been requested, but I searched and didn't find any hints. As part of my theme arc to model COIN and CIT in the near future, any chance of adding semi-submersible drug runner platforms? I'm thinking they would be surface units with a small RCS and the ability to go to Peri depth only? Thanks!
  3. No problem. Sorry - real rusty. All set - I put it up in the WestPac forum.

  7. Thanks Herman! Do you know of any quick primers on Victory condition writing beyond what's in the manual?
  8. Beta Scenario of my first attempt at an HCE scenario. This one uses the new HCDA database for the Americas. Please be kind if I made obvious mistakes and I look forward to feedback! File Name: liteson.zip File Submitter: Armando J. Heredia (Juramentado) File Submitted: 13-MAR-2009 File Category: Americas Scenario Author: Armando J. Heredia Battleset: This one uses .SCZ with the Americas HCDA-080924 database (DB file included in Zip) Scenario Background: In organizational parlance, "Keep The Lights On" means to stay in business, especially under tough or trying circumstances. Given the world's current troubles, this closely describes the dilemma of modern navies as governments make hard decisions between defense and economic spending. Add to that noxious brew a touch of a "no-notice" crisis and things are liable to get very interesting. Venezuela 2010: An ever defiant Hugo Chavez sees opportunity in the global drawdown of the American presence in the Carribbean, and declares an expansion of the nation's Economic Exclusion Zone (EEZ). Citing martime security concerns, Chavez uses his weekly radio show to cite that unprecedented levels of gun-running and drug-smuggling from neighboring states have forced his hand in order to secure the safety of the Gulf area. Venezuelan Coast Guard elements are openly harrassing and stopping legitimate traffic transiting the zone. Any vessels failing to comply are subject to immediate use of lethal force. Not surprisingly, intelligence sources note that Cuban, Russian and certain other nationalities are being given a free pass. Despite the obvious dangers in fleeing the illegitimate blockade, several ships have refused to submit and are attempting to exit the area through the North and East passages. SOUTHCOM has ordered 2nd Fleet to stand to and prepare operations to uphold Freedom of Navigation principles. liteson.zip
  9. Tony, Many thanks. My addled brain kicked in after posting but before the moderated post made it up. I vaguely recalled exactly what the post described. It also helped explain why my primitive attempt at a self-authored MEDC scenario failed to load. Works fine now. A bit off topic, but is there any general guidance on the "upgraded" databases and their use? Do I need it to play new scenarios? Other benefits?
  10. Hello Everyone, I'm an old GDW Harpoon miniatures gamer who made the jump to HCE. I have cleanly upgraded to the .044 version and it's working with all default scenarios. My problem is that I've downloaded a couple of Westpac scenarios here (like Sprat in the Spratleys) but I can't get them to load properly. What I did is I created a subdirectory inside the \Matrix Games\HCE\ folder and unzipped all the files there. I immediately noticed that Load User Scenario is looking for files that match a .sc? filter. Overriding the filter and forcing the file load results in a GE crash. I searched the General Discussion and the Scenario Design forums but there wasn't a topic close to mine or an FAQ. Please help the hopeless. I'm sure it's something painfully simple. Thanks, -Armando
