About Me
Served about 21 years in the US Navy, serving on various ships (CG,DD, DDG, SSN, LPD,CVN) either as ships company or TDY during underway periods. Spent my last five plus years onboard the USS Harry S Truman CVN-75 (plank-owner!!) and retired right after we completed our maiden deployment - great way to end it with a big adventure!! I now work for the Dept of State in Washington DC doing various technical stuff (we'll leave it at that), and I've had the pleasure of visiting 47 countries so far!!
Been playing Harpoon since I found the 360 version, before that it was USS Ticonderoga. I did see the board game when I was stationed at the Naval War College in RI but didn't/couldn't play or work with it. Although I did lots of gaming on/off duty playing the Navy's simulator (1983) NWGS (naval war gaming system) it was great!! I worked in database section researching and building platforms (ships-a/c - subs etc) from the ground up to include sonar and weapons etc. Many times BDA wasn't enabled (it would crash the system) but it was still great because to test out what I built I would build a game and play it!!
I've done some beta-testing for a few versions of Harpoon (not sure which ones), work tends to get in the way sometimes as does my wife (1986) who has been very tolerant of my gaming!!! In HCE I build lots of games some realistic some just bang-bang where I play both sides to see if they are evenly matched.... it's fun.
I also play Mafia Wars on FB too... but I enjoy HCE more but MW is what I do when I need a break.
When I'm not gaming I love trout fishing, if I can't fish for them any kind of fishing here in Virginia. I like to spend most of my time fishing / hunting / camping / hiking in the mountains of VA or where I was born in Western Massachutsetts.
