The exercise incorporated its various branches including Israel Air Force, Israel Navy, IDF Army, and the IDF Intelligence Corps, lasted four days. Toch command post during the exercise The exercise, codenamed "Shiluv Zro'ot III" (Hebrew - Crossing Arms III), was the second largest of its kind since the end of the Second Lebanon War in 2006 and was largely based on lessons learned. During this exercise, a new command system designated Torch 400, made by Elbit Systems, was tested for the very first time. Mobile digital command system Built around the $500 million Tzayad (Hebrew - Hunter) Digital Army Program (DAP), has become Israel's centerpiece in its land force modernization effort, with new capabilities linking all combat echelons and disparate ground force elements into a single, secure C4I net. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) plan to deploy the fourth block version, Torch 400, on the Golan Heights facing Syria, marking the operational debut of Israel's first fully digitized combined arms division. It has also been announced that next year, Israeli civil defense units will carry out their first exercise dealing with a radioactive attack on civilians, as part of the defense establishment's preparations against radiological terror. Security officials are concerned with intelligence reports indicating terror groups being interested in obtaining radioactive materials, for mega-terror attacks. Accordingly, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai named 2009 "the year of preparedness" for radiological threats. Photos: IDF Spokesman and Elbit Systems
