May 17, 200520 yr Fellas: Some of you know that I got a new computer recently. Since I got the computer, I did not install H3 on it. Frankly, working on the H3DB, I ran into a few obstacles and “show stoppers” in both the db itself and GE. I seriously considered abandoning the project altogether. However, I am not one to leave things unfinished, so I have decided to take a fresh approach to this challenge. This however means that the H3DB as we know it is dead and will not be updated. I will be working using the following principles: • The previous H3DB is based on the HUD II. The new H3DB is my own work entirely. I am starting fresh from scratch so it is not based on any db. It will however, be built with the same design philosophy (simplicity, faithfulness to H4 paper rules, playability) as the old H3DB. • This db will be built at a pace set by me and I will be focusing on quality rather than quantity. Platforms will be added when I have time and as I see fit. • I appreciate Frans’ work on the text descriptions and they will be included in the new db when complete. • Anyone is welcome to contribute platforms to the db in the form of H4 data forms. They will be added if I deem them acceptable and at my own pace. If you wish to contribute to the db, email me privately and I will explain more. • What does this mean for existing scenarios? Exactly what it meant before. They will need to be rebuilt once and only once. When complete I will never delete anything from the db, just append to it. I will post the new db when I have enough platforms completed for it. Meanwhile, enjoy the other dbs out there. Fred
