November 5, 201213 yr I'm not sure if this is a problem with the database or something I am doing wrong, but I've been testing the AIM-7 missiles (as carried by various versions of the F-4) and I am having a lot of trouble. I cannot get either the AIM-7C or the AIM-7E to fire at ANYTHING. I've tried them against T-34 Mentors AND against 737s, so it's not the type of aircraft that's creating the problem. I recommend a complete review of the AIM-7 variants for the HUD-4 database as soon as it is practical to do so, all of them, in case I've missed something, although I think the AIM-7M is okay. (Getting the AIM-9D to fire is a PAIN, as it will not acquire targets unless you are really close, but it WILL fire, so I'm assuming that's not an error.) Thanks. Mark
November 5, 201213 yr I think I got the problem. I noticed that the Sparrows had 2 flags, I suspect these were antagonists: Illumination at Launch, Terminal illumination. Corrected in HUD4 v1.11. FG
November 9, 201213 yr Correction... it wasn't a flag, but a director issue... Missed the APG-65. Corrected and reversed the both illumination flags. FG
November 9, 201213 yr Author So the missiles will work now? Good. Thanks, Gunny. I'm eagerly awaiting the newest version of ANW and the newest version of the database. When will they be out!? When!? (Actually, since you've corrected a couple of important bugs recently, should a "beta 12" be released anyway, even if the official database won't be out for...a few weeks? Or however long it is going to be?)
November 28, 201213 yr Author I just tested the AIM-7C and AIM-7E. I could get the AIM-7C to fire, but not either kind of the AIM-7E. I kept on getting a message that I was out of range, even when I was close enough to use my Vulcan to attack the jets I was using as targets. Hmmm....
November 28, 201213 yr Author Thanks, Gunny. Sorry the bugs I've reported are turning out to be such a pain to track down.
