The US Navy (USN) has formalised key ship specifications for the US' Ohio Replacement and the UK's Vanguard-successor programmes in an Ohio Replacement First Article Quad Pack Ship Specification document signed on 31 August at the Washington Navy Yard, it announced on 6 September. ...

 

It confirms the US' decision to replace its current force of 14 Ohio-class missile submarines each armed with 24 Trident D-5 submarine launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) with a class of 12 new-design boats each with 16 SLBM launch tubes.
