May 29, 201213 yr Author Obviously, this Tupelov's entry into the market to compete with Boeing's P-8 Poseidon. There have been a couple of maritime patrol aircraft proposals based on the Tu-204, first the Tu-204P and more recently the Tu-214. Haven't heard much about em recently.
