February 21, 201214 yr I think it is likely that this is the vodka version. If and when they release a shipbuilding strategy, it should be an interesting read.
February 21, 201214 yr Author I think it is likely that this is the vodka version. If and when they release a shipbuilding strategy, it should be an interesting read. Perhaps that is generally true, but I didn't read anything in this article that didn't describe other than what is actually happening, i.e. an emphasis on smaller combatants, and there weren't any really outlandish claims that I could see. The first Project 20385 Gremyashchy class corvette was by all accounts laid down at around the first of the month, as was the first Project 22350 Admiral Golovko class frigate. And, the Steregushchiy is afloat, as is the Soobrazitelny. Will they build all of the small combatants planned or contracted for? Time will tell.
February 23, 201214 yr I see the graphic still shows two Kara class in Black sea inventory.....is this wishful thinking?
February 23, 201214 yr Author I see the graphic still shows two Kara class in Black sea inventory.....is this wishful thinking? The graphic is dated 2010. The last two Kara class cruisers were decommissioned, or are due to be decommissioned, since that time.

February 23, 201214 yr If its still showing a Kara in the BSF, that can be attributed to the date in the lower lefthand corner (2010). The last Kara was decomm'd in 2011. Hope this helps.
February 23, 201214 yr Author If its still showing a Kara in the BSF, that can be attributed to the date in the lower lefthand corner (2010). Yah, we've cleared that up. The last Kara was decomm'd in 2011. Hope this helps. I haven't seen an official date for the decommissioning of Kerch. She was supposedly involved in exercises as recently as August 2011. Got a source?
