Chinese versions of Soviet/Russian aircraft?

Featured Replies

A number of Chinese aircraft are variants of Soviet ones...

Y-7 transport <--> An-24/An-26

Y-5 transport <--> An-2

Shaanxi Y-8 <--> An-12

Y-14 <--> An-26

Are these different enough that they need their own entries?

The armed ones usually would - they're armed with different missiles - such as the J-7 (MiG-21) and J-15 (Su-33).

Oh, yes, and many of them have been included already; I was thinking of the unarmed aircraft like the transports...do they have different enough sensors, engines, etc. that they need to be separate entries or can one just use the Russian ones?

Hi there,

My policy on adding platforms to the HUD-4 is the following: platform are added even if similar in the case there are 2 different national names (J-15 and Su-33, being basically the same plane, will have separate entries). Being currently away from home with undecent gear, I can't add any platform right now until beginning of January. Being kept busy by real life affairs, pace to which I'll be able to add new platforms will be time-related.
