Several media sources reported recently that the Russian military had decided to scrap the world's largest nuclear-powered subs by 2014. Scrap huh? One would think China woule be chompin at the bit to expand their SSBN fleet on the cheap. Scrap? The awesome Typhoons'? What would you get for scrap, a hundred mil, maybe? I've been reading that Russia is a bit tight on cash to finish their new Borei subs. Bet a fire sale of a Typhoon or two could fix that. I don't think they're going to be scraped. The new subs aren't ready and Russia needs the cash.
