March 19, 200521 yr Over 500 Harpoon Classic scenarios have been collected and compiled here: War-Forums HQ File Archives
March 19, 200521 yr Author I think so. Herman collected and compiled both collections, with help from Larry Gertner, I believe. So it is probably the same.
April 8, 200521 yr Are these scenarios for Harpoon classic 97? If so how do I get them to work? I am computer illiterate and really only use it for Harpoon & email so words of one syllable please
April 8, 200521 yr Author Yes, I believe there are a mixture of mostly Harpoon Classic 97 (HC97) and Harpoon Classic 2002 (HC2002) scenarios available there.
April 11, 200521 yr I downloaded the Legacy Scenarios.zip files from War Forum HQ Files Archive and unzipped Scenarios I into my Harpoon directory but nothing seems to have happened. I know practically nothing about computers so please can you help me get the new scenariaos working?
April 11, 200521 yr I downloaded the Legacy Scenarios.zip files from War Forum HQ Files Archive and unzipped Scenarios I into my Harpoon directory but nothing seems to have happened. I know practically nothing about computers so please can you help me get the new scenariaos working? It sounds like you could use some help, and I'd be glad to give it a go, but it's probably best we do so via private email, and if need be, telephone. To get the ball rolling, I've messaged you through the email we have here at the forum to give you my direct email address. Just look at the upper right of this screen beneath the Help and Search icons. A link there should say at least 1 New Message. Click on that, and you'll find a message containing my direct email address.
April 12, 200521 yr Author I'd venture a guess and say your problem is with the scenario filename extensions. Each battleset has its own distinctive filename extension (eg. scenarioname.scj), as shown in the list below: Original battleset: GIUK: *.sc1 NACV: *.sc2 MEDC: *.sc3 IOPG: *.sc4 Harpooner Designer Set 1 GIUK: *.sc5 NACV: *.sc6 MEDC: *.sc7 IOPG: *.sc8 Harpooner Designer Set 2 GIUK: *.sc9 NACV: *.sca MEDC: *.scb IOPG: *.scc Harpooner Designer Set 3 GIUK: *.sce NACV: *.scf MEDC: *.scg IOPG: *.sch EC2000 GIUK: *.sci NACV: *.scj MEDC: *.sck IOPG: *.scl In order to find a user scenario that was made for a particular battleset, you have to look for the filename that has the matching extension. My suggestion is to create a separate subdirectory for all your downloaded scenarios, and then look there when trying to match a scenario to a battleset. Let us know if you continue to have trouble. Otherwise, good hunting.
April 12, 200521 yr Good call, Brad. To make this information more readily available, I added it to the Tools/FAQ page at HarpGamer.com under the link Understanding Harpoon Classic File Names. Thanks for laying it out for us.
April 12, 200521 yr Author No problem. While we're at it, we should probably add the filename extensions for the more recent battlesets, the EC2003 series and Westpac. Ah, our work is never done ....
April 12, 200521 yr Author LOL ... .... its great when things are done before I even suggest them. Great idea with the saved game file names (I forgot about those). Nice work !
