  1. You could use a dummy unit set as neutral (or may be another category: unknown could be created) and make this visible to the player. Both units could move together (or make the dummy follow the real unit wiht same speed). Then, when side is found by player, then make the real unit visible to the player. Albert
  2. I played a bit with the new features, they look great. When I tested saving/loading scenarios, it didn't work for me. Using Spanish config (comma as decimal separator) I saves the demo scenario IntroASuW without changing anything. I see that numbers in scientific notation are saved with comma, but numbers with integer and decimal parts are saved without decimal separators (not comma nor period), giving positions in the hundreds of thousand miles range!! Fyi, this is the text in saved file: PLAYER All TITLE Captain's Edition Intro ASuW Scenario DATE 30 May 1991 TIME 9:0 UNITS_MOVED false UNITS 4 S001|Blue|Arleigh Burke|0|0|15|0|None 1|0900|0|0 S002|Blue|Container|3,061516E-10|5|15|0|None 1|0900|3,061516E-10|5 S003|Red|Sovremenny|60|-103923|15|240|None 1|0900|60|-103923 S004|Red|Ivan Rogov|6433012|-106423|15|240|None 1|0900|6433012|-106423 Anyway, earlier proposed workaround works OK
  3. Steve, In Windows 7 Home Ed. you can change it at Control Panel - Regional and language settings. In Format (the first) tab, there is a button for Additional Configuration . There you can set specific configuration for numbers, i.e. the symbol for decimal separator. Hope it helps.
  4. Steve, As a workaround, I manually changed my settings in Regional configuration... from comma to period. SimPlot saved and read scenario files correctly then.
  5. By chance are you using a non-US English language in Windows? In that case there is a small possibility the program is trying to use a comma as the decimal separator instead of a period. Just a random thought from bitter experience. I found similar problems when trying SimPlot. In Spanish language configuration, Windows use comma instead of a period, and so when you save a scenario, format is not the same as default scenarios. When reading the scenario again, positions are greatly misplaced. I tried changing my decimal separator to a period, and everything works OK.
  6. I like the implicit simplification you are suggesting but not detailing here. With the CIC Warfare Plotter I was headed towards uncertainty zones for "unknown" units but that becomes a real logistical nightmare for the ref maintaining the parameters of the uncertainty zone. Certainly it would be fun to add at some point but no need to get hung up on it at this stage. You would have two kind of uncertainty, unknown type of unit and exact position of unit. In a blind ASW warfare game, I added some deviation from data given to players, referred to distance, speed and bearing of units detected, depending on having a poor, regular or good fire solution for passive detection.
  7. Yesterday I was just thinking how to use SimPlot for a blind game, with separate scenario files for each player... Did you read my mind?
  8. Downloaded OK and runs fine. Did just a quick check, but it looks very well: functional and simple. Great work!
  9. It looks cool. I'd be interested too in seeing it. In case you can't attach the zip file to the forum, could you send a copy? My e-mail is: piotr.am AT gmail.com And thanks for sharing your work with the community.
  10. OK, thanks for the quick answer.
  11. Just a quick question: Is StratSims still providing license codes for CIC MP01? I discovered it some time ago, and there are some chances that I could use it in a game. I see that payments are still accepted, but being a "closed" project, i'd like to be sure before going on... Also, it would be very interesting the multiplayer option that was discussed elsewhere in the forum Thanks in advance
