LTD, Tokyo and were jointly built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Kolkata and Sumidagawa Shipyard for the Indian Coast Guard between 1983 and 1985. The 44-metre-long vessels with a displacement of 181 tonnes have a top speed of 25 knots. The vessels are powered by two MTU 12V538 diesel engines driving two independent four-bladed propellers. Jija bai class have a range of 2,375 nautical miles at cruise speed of 14 knots. The crew of the patrol vessels consists of 7 officers and 27 enlisted sailors. The vessels are armed with 40 mm 60 cal Bofors Mk 3 AA.
