Database text: "Historically, the Convair B-36 Peacemaker was selected over the futuristic YB-49 Flying Wing. If the B-49 had gone into production, however, it is possible that it would have ended up as a long-lived sister ship to the B-52, its enormous range making it an enormously practical platform. This version also assumes by the 1970s the B-49 would have been upgraded with improved avionics and the ability to launch laser-guided bombs and cruise missiles."
