OOBs for Small Task Forces

Featured Replies

I would like to start a thread dedicated to questions about and/or suggestions for OOBs for small task forces. All periods. All nations.

To get the ball rolling, I will start with two questions...

1) Presently, or in the near future, what is a likely OOB for a task force involving a Littoral Combat Ship? I had assumed it would be one LCS and one DDG, the latter providing AA protection, etc. while the LCS served as the platform for SEAL teams and Firescout recon missions. Or is the LCS supposed to operate entirely on its own?

2) In or around 1985, if the United Kingdom had to respond to a minor crisis (i.e., something that did not require a carrier but could be handled with a couple of warships, and maybe one submarine, and perhaps a couple of helicopters and/or squads of Royal Marines to land somewhere and blow things up), what kind of OOB are we talking about? Which ships are "the usual suspects" for this kind of mission?
