Gunny, Wanted to get this out now since It is fresh on my mind. Had a nice conversation with Chris Carlson and Larry Bond about this about 2.5 years ago and again more recently when I was in the editing phase of my articles on the Su-27 Flanker for Naval Sitrep Magazine. The following aircraft are commonly called stealthy and are NOT STEALTH! US: F-35 Joint Strike Fighter family. Stealth only from the FRONT Aspect ratio and then only just (the old F-117 is Stealthier from the front!) Any 4+ Generation Fighter (F/A-18E/F and earlier, F-16C/D F-15 Silent Eagle etc.) All these aircraft have a VERY LOW radar cross section size per Harpoon 4.1/5.0 rules. Eu…

No rush on this, but would it possible to add the platforms (and/or loadouts) for the ships and submarines involved in Operation Trident (1971 Indian-Pakistani War)? It might be interesting to recreate those battles someday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Tri...akistani_War%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Python This would include the Vidyut class missile boats (already requested), and the Arnala class (Indian designation for Petya III class vessels--is this different enough from the Project 159 platforms already in the database to need a separate database listing?). On the Pakistani side, ships included the PNS Shah Jahan (a C-class des…

Point class sealift ship https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_class_sealift_ship "The Point class is a class of six roll-on/roll-off sealift ships procured under a Private Finance Initiative and available for use as naval auxiliaries to the British armed forces. They were the result of the Strategic Defence Review and are designed for the strategic transport of military cargoes and vehicles in times of need. The UK Ministry of Defence has purchased a 22-year charter from Foreland Shipping (previously named "AWSR Shipping"), who own, operate and crew the ships, utilising them as merchantmen when they are not required for military service. The small British crews are pr…

Pondicherry-class minesweeper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pondicherry_class_minesweeper "The Pondicherry class are a class of minesweepers built for the Indian Navy by the Soviet Union. They are modified versions of the Natya class minesweeper. The vessels were acquired in two batches. The first were purchased from 1978 to 1980 and the second from 1986 to 1988. Technically, the second batch is referred to as the Karwar class but are physically identical to the first batch with the exception of additional surface-to-air missiles. As minesweepers, they are large and heavily armed. They can serve a dual purpose as an anti-submarine warfare escort. Their hulls are const…

Hey Gunny, Keep up the great work on HUD 4 DB. I have made a scenerio where surface units must locate a lifeboat/liferaft as part of VC. I have been using the CIV Drifter [8m/12kts] entry it but may not be the most realistic representation. http://daesungeng.en.ec21.com/Totally_Enclosed_Lifeboat_Life_Boat--411866_411867.html This link has a list for enclosed lifeboats with various sizes. My concern is the speed and RCS. The drifter with a top speed of 12kts seems a bit fast for a larger enclosed lifeboat and I would think that a small, slowly drifting inflatable 6-man life raft, seemingly impossible to locate in the real world, would be even more difficult…

Project 1153 OREL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_1153_OREL "Project 1153 Oryol (Russian: Орёл, Eagle) was a planned 1970s-era Soviet program to give the Soviet Navy a true blue water aviation capability. The ship would have been about 75-80,000 tons displacement, with a nuclear power plant and carried about 70 aircraft launched via steam catapults. It was designed with a large offensive capability with the ship mounts including 24 vertical launch tubes for anti-ship cruise missiles." --Wikipedia Another "what if" platform...this one has some really interesting possibilities...imagine if the Soviets had built, say, two of them by 1985, and then a crisis er…

Project 1204 Shmel http://russian-ships.info/eng/borderguard/project_1204.htm Large class of Soviet patrol boat. Some exported to other countries. The three-inch gun gives it a pretty serious punch for such a relatively small boat. Good for pirates, perhaps? ANW HUD-4 v1.11

Export version of the Steregushchy...is it different enough from the Russian version to need its own database entry? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steregushchy_class_corvette http://www.navyrecognition.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=74 In 2007 the Indonesian Navy made an agreement in principle (pending a full contract) for four vessels of this type to replace their ageing Dutch-built Fatahillah-class corvettes. The first was to be built in Spain and fitted out in St Petersburg, leaving open the option of Indonesian involvement in building the subsequent ships.[5] This agreement appears to have lapsed; in 2011 Indonesia signed a deal for two …
