A slightly larger generic police/coast guard boat can be added by taking the database entry for the 42-foot motor cruiser and creating a new entry POL Generic Police Cruiser, with the main change being the addition of a Small Arms mount to represent the armed law enforcement officers aboard. The category POL (for "Police") is added to distinguish such boats from purely civilian vessels, even though they are often the same kind of vessel and the only difference is that they are being used for law enforcement. (Well, we hope they are being used for law enforcement...) Database text: A large generic police boat, similar to those employed by coast guards and law enf…

Bell 412 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_412 "Development began in the late 1970s with two Bell 212 being converted into 412 prototypes. An advanced four blade main rotor with a smaller diameter replaced the 212's two blade rotor." --Wikipedia Is it different enough than the Bell 205 to need its own database entry? A related question...does the Bell CH-146 Griffon (the Canadian version of the Bell 412) need its own database entry? ANW HUD 4 v1.11

Alpha Jet MS2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_jet#Variants Described in Wikipedia as "Improved version with new avionics, an uprated engine, Magic Air-to-Air missiles, and a Lancier glass cockpit." I'm not sure if it is different enough from the other variants of the Alpha to need its own listing, but it looks like it might be...about 40 of these were built, for Egypt and for Cameroon. The PRC Type O25T Naresuan is described in the database as a conversion of a broad-beamed Leander, but I think this is incorrect. It's a Chinese ship sold to Thailand, isn't it? Anyway, I figured I should report it in case the text was in error. Here's the Wikipedia description (which probably can't be quoted word for word, but can be used a starting point, I suppose)... "HTMS (His Thai Majesty's Ship) Naresuan (FFG 421), (Thai: นเรศวร) hull number 621, commissioned in 1995, is a modified version of the Chinese-made Type 053 frigate, corporate designed between Royal thai navy and China but built by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation in Shanghai. Her sister sh…

A generic police boat could be added to the database adding a separate platform POL Generic Police Boat and using the information for the Boston Whaler, but adding a Small Arms mount to represent the armed law enforcement officers aboard. In fact, as I understand it, a number of police agencies around the world use various types of Boston Whaler for this exact purpose. Database text: A small, high-speed boat used by police forces around the world.

Minor database error...the descriptive text for one of the three listings for the Sprague identifies it as a "Finnish missile boat." At 9,000 tons, that's one heck of a missile boat! I figured I should let you know.

Hey Gunny, Keep up the great work on HUD 4 DB. I have made a scenerio where surface units must locate a lifeboat/liferaft as part of VC. I have been using the CIV Drifter [8m/12kts] entry it but may not be the most realistic representation. http://daesungeng.en.ec21.com/Totally_Enclosed_Lifeboat_Life_Boat--411866_411867.html This link has a list for enclosed lifeboats with various sizes. My concern is the speed and RCS. The drifter with a top speed of 12kts seems a bit fast for a larger enclosed lifeboat and I would think that a small, slowly drifting inflatable 6-man life raft, seemingly impossible to locate in the real world, would be even more difficult…
