June 3, 20187 yr After the air to air guidance issue was fixed I decided to test other guided munitions such as torps and stand off missile. Test scenario and two saves attached. AGM such as the Taurus, Scalp egg and Storm shadow displayed repeatedly to lose direction when launch at multiple targets from one attacking group. It would guide to one of the designated targets then turn either to 0 degree heading or 180 degree heading prior to impact on any of the targets. I then repeated the test attacking each target separately and achieved correct results with hits on all targets attacked separately. Torpedoes responded the same whether single target attacks or multiple target attacks were launched. The torpedoes used were the latest advanced wire guided I believe would guide to the target through wire corrections. In both attack test the torpedoes continued in the original launch direction and did not altered course at all though in the group window it appeared like they were as was the case with the air to air mid-course guidance report. The test simulated an attack on base with the multiple target launch scenario and three separate single target attacks. The torpedo attacks were of a single ship in the group attack and an single launched attack on both ships. The saves show the behavior of both the torpedoes and AGMs after launch and its path to the targets. Tests1 prelaunch Test2 Launch multiple targets single attack. Test3 Launch single target attacks and results of weapons performance Guidance test.zip
June 4, 20187 yr Author I just realized I forget to specify the version (2018.008) with DB 150928 and 150621 tested.
July 12, 20187 yr Author I was wondering if you observed the same peculiar behavior of the torpedoes and AGM in the test scenario. I could never get a hit with a torpedo regardless of method of attack or multiple target attack. The AGM would single out the first target with the weapons assigned to that target but would all other weapons assign for other targets would follow the first targets weapons to it target and never guided to their original target. They would perform as expect if single attack single target attacks.
July 16, 20187 yr Yes, and Eric assembled a tiny test scenario for me. I started debugging but have not found the issue yet. The day job and an innocuous yet fatiguing health issue means I'm not able to devote any measurable time to the game at present. Maybe in about 2 weeks .
July 16, 20187 yr Author I apologize if I came across impatient but as with many problem installation of the program on the computer is always on my mind. I was worried as I may have made an installation error causing the problem only with my computer. I am sorry to hear about you health issues and wish you the best. If Eric wants help with possible creating a specific conditions scenario I would be willing to help and can be emailed with such a request. I also find it fun finding work arounds with some of the little bugs I find so it is also some kind of extra from the game.
July 18, 20187 yr No, I don't think you came across as impatient. It would be great to have the problem all buttoned up by now!
July 19, 20187 yr I ran some of these (mostly air and sub launched anti surface missiles) and some similar last night. It is interesting to watch the group window and the unit window, the group and unit headings and the telltails (direction of travel indicators). The group telltails seem to be indicating what the direction of travel should be, but isn't. Units with differing targets aren't diverging, although a couple of times they did AFTER the head unit (00unit) hit its target, but this didn't seem consistent.

Yes with torpedoes I could not score a hit regardless of method of attack as the torpedoes never tracked. With the anti-surface missiles a single attack on multiple target resulted consistently on only on target being struck as all missiles followed the same path but only the missiles assigned to that target hit it target. When I then made individual attacks on each target of a group with missiles a hit on assigned target was produce on each attack. When I attack the base, consisting of three targets, with missiles a multi target attack resulted in only the 00 target being hit and other missiles just following 00 missiles never hitting and just flying off till fuel expended.
July 29, 20187 yr Author Have downloaded version to 2018.009 and ran test on guidance issues. Ok the good news is I have tested the torpedo guidance problem from both air and sub launched torpedoes and have see expected behavior leading to hits. I have yet to test it on sub to sub but my guest is will get same results. The bad news, and I would like someone to confirm this, is all missiles now have a terminal guidance issue which results in no hits on sea and land targets except which seems when the attacking unit gets within range of its surface radar of target 00. This would help possibly eliminating a corrupt download, which I am always wary of, so I can put together various test scenarios demonstrating behavior of missile outside and inside of launch platform's surface radar. I have also notice that AAM and SAM can complete by avoided by simple course changes after launched of attacking missiles. If I maintain the course even after launch kills did occur. I tested this by taking scenario and flew a couple of planes toward a SAM armed surface fleet which also had air cover, Med 5 with 150928 DB was used for the test. So if someone can confirm these results and email or post here with results I would be willing to put some small test scenarios together for TonyE to possibly save him some time to look at.
August 8, 20187 yr Eric and I ran thru a few 2018.010 preview builds which made good progress but broke other functionality so I'm not uploading one yet. This missile guidance code is my second least favorite area of the code to mess with after the logic to decide if a weapon is valid against a target. The complexity shows, fix one issue and two more pop up. We'll keep picking away at it as time permits.

I do appreciate and envious of yours and Eric's efforts as all I can do is report things that go wrong and that is not an envious position to be in. You said it was experimental and everything good and bad started as such. I will help however I can. The game is still working with the 2016.003 so the game is not just sitting on the shelf waiting. I have another computer and time to test the latest versions and put together small scenarios to help any way I can.
September 4, 20187 yr Author Ok sorry had a few house remodeling issues and computer issues for a bit. I have ran a test scenerio on all aspect of guidance weapons, launch platform and target type, and the fixed seems to be for all aspect of guided weapons include single and multiple target attacks. Going to start a large scenario to make sure but multiple test show repeated success.
