Haha, this is an ooold bug. I had the same thing yesterday playing HC 2002 :)

Sometimes it really surprises me how many bugs this game has... And how persistent they are.

I was intending to buy the HCE & ANW pack in incoming days, but now that I've seen all those bug reports on the forums...

Axure, please consider how little impact most of these issues have on playing the game. I've played HC since 1992/3 (before it was HC) and never noticed nor had any ships run away during that entire time. Not to mention that we're working on the issues that get reported, would it scare you away that we've fixed more than a handful of crash bugs since HCE was released; I would think that acknowledging them and fixing them is a good thing.

I have no trouble saying that HC2002 was the most stable HC release ever (and probably least infuriating), the first patch of HCE will give HC2002 a run for its money in that department, not to mention being so much more capable than HC2002.

I am involved with many of the bug reports for both ANW and HCE and I'll say that the stuff I've seen for HCE is comparatively minor compared to the game-killing whoppers I've run into.

Lots of this stuff is simply quirky behaviour. The problem mentioned in this thread is one of them. It's annoying, but can, for the most part, be avoided if the player is diligent. Of the 15 or so reports for HCE, only 3-4 might be significant and cannot be worked-around.

Compare this to the 30-40 monstrous ones out of the ANW list of 140+ and we're not even talking about apples and oranges, anymore. We're talking about ants and elephants, now. :D

Moved to Mantis #2426.

Confirmed in 2008.002.

Related to 0002425 ?: Sub ignores patrol zone.

Related to 0002401 ?: Ships not moving to appropriate patrol zones when selected in formation editor.
