Mgellis
Just a thought... Command is very similar to Harpoon and it has the same level of quality--excellent information, realism, gameplay, etc. I think it is going to be a very important part of the naval simulation world for some time to come. Maybe it would make sense to "adopt" Command and make Harpgamer a clearinghouse for information about it, too, including forums for discussing it, and a repository for files, scenarios, etc. I'm not sure how hard it would be to add a new set of sub-forms forums for Command to the site, but this seems to me like a natural direction for Harpgamer to take. Any thoughts on this? Mark
Grumble
Probably you need to start with Tony's take on this. Obviously there is some history behind this, of which I'm not aware, so I stop here.

Mark, I agree with Grumble and broncepulido . Those of us behind HG probably represent the people the HHQ/Warfaresims guys would second-least like to have hosting files relating to their game. They aren't fans of anything being anywhere but their own forum, allowing stuff to accumulate at Matrix and some other fan sites must chafe mightily already. Certainly Harpoon and in turn HG will lose many users and sadly core contributors but that's how things work sometimes. Feel free to ask me any further details on IRC, or e-mail, or PM here. We used to have a welcome page separate from the forum that summarized why HG exists. That mission statement is missing from the current site and needs updating anyway. The old one said: What is HarpGamer? HarpGamer is a fan-created website dedicated to furthering the understanding and play of the Harpoon series of Naval Warfare Simulators. HarpGamer is the brainchild of Brad Leyte, Anthony Eischens, Fred Galano, and Bruce Fenster, all of us having been core members of the Development Teams for Harpoon Classic 2002 and Harpoon Classic Gold. Since its publishing in 2004, HCGold has provided a much needed shot in the arm for the Classic branch of the computer Harpoon family tree. Players are once again digging in, creating exciting new Scenarios almost daily, particularly for the Westpac and EC2003 theaters of operation. During development, our primary focus was to code, test and debug the many new features and improvements implemented in HCGold. That accomplished, we now want to do something we previously had little time for -- PLAY and ENJOY the game! We also want to share our knowledge of the game with others, something we always hoped to do more systematically after HCGold's release (as an all-volunteer team, our labors in development left little time for documentation). And finally, we want to provide an outlet for all fans of this great game to share what they have experienced, learned and produced with the entire Harpoon community.
