broncepulido Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 An very impressive and detailed 339 pages document about U-2, her flights, and her sucessor A-12/Oxcart, with some comments of Chris Pockock: http://www2.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB434/ Quote
Silent Hunter UK Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Big revelation in there about RAF pilots flying a few U-2 missions; including the one that discovered the Blinder. Quote
broncepulido Posted September 15, 2013 Author Report Posted September 15, 2013 Now with a little while to read or at least perouse it. Chapter 5, page 214, highly trained U-2 pilot used at least one time to pilot a rebel P-51 Mustang based in the island of Morotai (in 1958?) against Indonesian government bombers described as of "Czechoslovak manufacture" (Il-28 Beagle?, most probably A-26 or B-25 if the year is actually 1958, the Il-28 were received only from 1961). I see a lot of elements from the records is now translated in the Wikipedia article about U-2 Dragonlady. Quote
