While I'm waiting for Ultimate edition to go on sale, I am desperately trying to get the last mileage out of my HCE. However now I have encountered a strange problem. I can play the battleset scenarios fine, but when I try to tweak them in the scenario editor, the game crashes with an Annex error. Even small changes like moving a carrier will produce a crash. This install is using an outdated database (2009.050) However the battlesets are playable, its just a mystery why I cant edit. I've tried to install the HC2018 Beta database, but it just destroys the install and says it has expired. Any help deeply appreciated to help me get my Harpoon fix until the eventual holiday sale.

When I essay to load the first type of plane in the Scenario Editor, I saw the indication of maximum number of planes=65417 !!!!!!!! I say OK, but it's loaded only one plane !!! Testing with some numbers (1, 136, 137, 138, 255,256, 257, 1000, 10000) the outcome is ever the same, one plane loaded !! Issue-007-Planes-on-Carrier-math-problem.pdf

Player gunnery adheres to the ROF properly. The AI wins every surface-to-surface gunnery duel in very quick fashion! I tested with 2009.074 too, and same result. I recall that I noticed this a few years back, but never got around to reporting it. Effectively surface-to-surface gunnery is broken unless the AI can be fixed to play fair.

Likely the line length just needs to be increased. Start any scenario and then got the Order of Battle form the Reports pull down menu. Example (from HDS III GIUK, Suprise in the Snow scenario): Group Unit Airfield: AEa 00:AFld Jan Mayen/Jan M......cut off Submarine Group:AHU 00:SSN Valiant/Conquero...cut off The Unit box doesn't allow enough space for the platform class/name. Also, the Group box could be widened a bit, or a column ecpander added between the Group and Unit windows. Notice how some of the names are hidden behind the Unit portion to the right.
