  1. added ability to F1 and ASW aricraft with asw sensors but no asw weapons to hunt and obtain fix on sub soft contact
  2. AZA was launched by me from base PortMorseby I'm fairly sure as an attack on the enemy base Manus Is but reassigned to attack the shipping. I think while flying to manus it detected the shipping and was reasigned by selection of AZA and issuing an F1 command to attack the shipping contact As best I remember.
  3. uses GE 2023.002, included in zip: custom battleset southPacificIslands, hccw140314 db, GE.log screen shot saved game 1 sec before popup. game played on after ignoring error type-aa-invalid-ge.zip
  4. In seemingly any game after setting radar to intermittent using F9 button, at game save game crashes
  5. What I found was that if an old scenario is opened in the 2023.001 SE then saved, it crashes the 2023.001 GE. Attached is a file that is original GUIK scenario 1 opened in the 2023.001 SE (opened as a battleset scenario) then saved-as (with no changes). When I run it from GE 2023.001 there is an instant crash. Doing a similar with other 'old' scenarios (which open in 2023.001 GE) also seems to result in an non-running scenario. Tested with no export.dll running. GIUKscen1-2023-001.zip
  6. When ever I use the F10 message (reminder) generator the game crashes.
  7. I'll try a few permutations too. I saw some crashes with a very particular combination of scenario writing and editing.
  8. I forgot that this shows aircraft altitude (not just low, medium, high etc), be hand for a distance to horizon calculator
  9. View File SouthPacificIslands This Battleset covers the islands of SouthWest Pacific extending to the east to Hawaii (Pearl Harbour),to the west to much of South China Sea and to the south to the northern end of New Zealand. The built in scenarios use database HCCW-140314 (available in Harpgamer downloads) but you can write scenarios using any database, this zip pack includes a template style scenario for HCDB 150929 as a suggested easy starting point The idea of this scenario is to allow easy writing of new scenarios by moving groups to where you want them, or deleting unwanted ones, setting up victory conditions and orders. The databases do not include many of the islands by name so I've put them in the template scenarios. To use the battleset exract the HDSU.rsr and HDSU res files into your main harpoon directory/folder probably HUCE in a std installation. To play the built in scenarios you need to copy the HCCW-140314 database into the main folder or use TonyE's HC Launncher (from the Harpgamer downloads) and select that database before opening the game. 11. using database hccw 140314 battleset westpac seen in GE 2022.027 scenario SlowTurn_CW_WestPac.scq starts with blue single ship group headed near north and detects a single ship red group just out of gun range approx due west. save game SlowTurn.hpq Blue group has been ordered to attack red group, it has calculated course to close and attack, out of range reported as 3 mile. Group continues on original course for 30 mins but during this time it continues to recalculate the course to close. save game SlowTurn+28.hpq is about 28 min after attack order, in about 2 mins the group will come around on heading for the latest course to close. Research tells me a destroyer should turn on about a 1/4 mile radius (~450 yds), at 30 knots it should do a half mile per min so turn about 90 deg in 45 sec. ? SlowTurn_CW_WestPac.zip
  12. New for this version 2.4.2.1 Of Toolbox A new Page KBShortCuts which includes a handy rundown of some of the shortcut keys that give features not obtained through the main F keys. Fixed a bug in the exact fix indicator and 'Cover' function in Attack Tab when player is Red. The toolbox size and position within the harpoon window will be remembered in subsequent games. to remember position follow instructions in settings page. Air Group Formation page gives an indication if the selected air unit is NOE (Nape Of Earth) capable and if its IFR (In Flight Refuel) capable. Air Refuel Page - when you enter this page it now automatically updates the Group list if one of the boxs Active or Tanker is ticked. Recent changes: A revised algorithm for handling attempted captures of enemy and neutral bases and surface groups.
  13. I'm guessing still the case. I'm interested in doing a few scenario in the pacific islands - SE Asia in the 60s. If changes do occur I've noticed that the EP-3s and most P-3 have high alt capability but 0 speed for all throttles at high alt. ARM Shrike AGM-45s and Standard AGM-78 omit ship target flag Don
  14. I think this link can lead you to Harpgamer on Discord:
  15. The release by Matrix of a new HUCE patch (with a very large amount of enhancements) has spurred on some of the Harpgamer crew and we have a new Pacific Islands battleset in the making utalising some of TonyE's tips so as to break the eastern 180 deg boundary and include Hawaii (Pearl Harbour), amongst other locations, and also additional island land-mass in the elevation map. The above pic is a representation of the cover we are looking at with notation illustrating islands that are available. It's yet to be decided but the geogrphical notation might be included in texture map. At present we are considering a couple of strings of scenario sets in different time periods based on Chinese presence through many of the island nations. This has become quite topical with current events having China approaching many of these island nations, many with past or expiring co-operative agreements with USA and Australia, with offers of support and in cases of already providing military style law enforcement vehicles (eg mobile water cannon). A second time line of a rewritten early 1960s with an early conclusion to the Vietnam War, a continued close technical tie between USSR and China and close co-operation in the region between Indonesia and China, with a view to 'Fathering' the development of the island nations in their emergence from WW2. Also on the cards a near future two prong invasion by China of Taiwan via Chinese mainland and a 'Blitzkrieg' style occupation of Luzon (Northern Philippines). Much of the discussion is occurring on the Harpgamer channel on Discord and we'd love anyone interested to get on board. Don
  16. great timing, we've put a new map together covering west pacific out to Hawaii and intend to do some cold war and near future scenarios in here including some taiwan invasions, if any one is intersted in contributing let me or TonyD know
  17. added lat long indication in the scenario editor. When adding facilities or groups and wanting a particular lat long (eg a generic facility for a real location not in database).
  18. View File Malacca Straits A Battleset with inbuilt database and ten storyline scenarios. Installation instructions are in the download zip file. Malacca Straits, Asia equivalent to the Straits of Hormuz. A strategic trade choke points for several Asian countries including China. The straits run along the coastlines of Indonesia and Malaysia with Singapore in the middle. China's major trade route to Africa and the west makes it of high trade and strategic importance. China has for decades claim reef, shoals and uninhabitable island as their territory and by threaten or actual force taken them. The island building campaign first stated as just claiming lost Chinese territories has become a military base initiative to levy control over the South China Sea of which the western part leads to the Malacca Strait. The Malacca straits is located on the western part of the South China Sea which connects it to the Indian Ocean near the Bay of Bengal which is controlled by India. Australia being a large supplier of LNG to India also though not a strategic see value in not allowing China by any means control it. A major part of Chinese energy is dependent on the Malacca Straits and see as a major vulnerability. China through trade agreements has keep the peace with counties belonging to the ASEAN trade pact. The island building program has some countries to back away from China due to militarization of the South China Sea. Australia lately has condemned Chinese action in the South China sea and ever more their interaction with Australian military units. Australians LNG export to India are aided by unmolested transit of the Straits. The U.S. continues its Freedom of Navigation in the SCS but not without harassment and warnings from Chinese built island bases in the SCS. India has maintained as best a relationship with both side with the recent military exercises with China and Russia. While also doing so with the U.S. and E.U. countries. In the region China has used it wealth to create favorable treaties and if needed coercion to control all shipping in the SCS. This leave not only Taiwan separated from possible allies' intervention of a Chinese invasion but many countries in the area also vulnerable. China has laid claim on the Indonesian island chain of Natuna but has yet attempted to move on them. Indonesia is yet an unknown of how far they will go to defended them and who of the ASEAN countries and Australis would aid them in a standoff with China. Natuna island would be a huge advantage for China in not only controlling the western part of the SCS but also that of the Malacca Strait. Malaysia and Singapore are continuously busy with increase pirate activity of whom seem to have an endless supply chain. China has increased it harassment of other countries military forces as they try to surveil the SCS in further intimidation or hiding what they are up to in the Western part of the SCS. The control for the SCS trade sea-lanes and riches moves West Submitter donaldseadog Submitted 01/17/2023 Category BattleSets
