  1. The OP situation seems to remain. I've attached two saved games played in westpac BS, HCDB2 170909 DB, originally saved in 2024.003 (80% certain) and now saved in 20224.004.

RunDryB.0006 was opened and group ABS had incorrect patrolling choppers, they were removed from the group by F8 split command and sent F6 Land back to ABS.

Once refueled one was set to patrol and it was patrolling correctly. The game was saved and reopened and the patrol was incorrect, it was saved as RunDryB.0006A.

    After Action Report

    ** SPOILER ALERT**

Thank Enrique, another nice scenario and interesting.

I decided that a plan was to put 2 AC patrol units of F-16 around the edge of the northern area of the large SAM coverage of my enemy and a couple of AEW planes well out of reach but hopefully giving good coverage of the 'danger zone'.

A number of attack attempts came out for me, and most were successfully dealt with with my SAM units, but (in the attached detail report) it is clear that my teams fired a large number of SAM to little effect, I better write off to my friends and ask for more.

Here's a summary, the blow by blow action is noted in the attached zipped up report text for anyone interested in the stats.

  3. Uploaded a new version, 2.10.4

Removed a debug notice that would sometime popup and make no sense to player.

Groups Page, added information regards NOE, IFR, and MAD capability for AC units in the unit details window.

Attack Page, fixed a code error that left the toolbox enemy unit selection only working for enemy units selected in the game unit window, not for manual selection in toolbox window.

The Group page (surface/sub group in older toolbox version) now with the selection of the toolbox entry by selection of the player group in GE group window gives a very quick reference to aircraft and ship/sub capability, some of which such as AC's MAD, IFR and NOE capability isn't available in the game.

  4. attached is a zip of a simplified version of the last comment.

    Use BS westpac, Database HCDB2-170909
    I used GE vers 2024.003
start with saved game Patrol-good.hpq, where airfield AAa has a group formation patrol of two Hawk, select the base and split off one of the patroling Hawk, enter a new course for the split off AC (eg RTB). Look at the patrol editor for AAa, the patrol notation is now wrong for the remaining Hawk (this is one of the indicators of this problem).

This gets you to the included Patrol-bad.hpq file.

If you let the game play on the hawk in group patrol will run dry and crash.
    This is reproducible every time.
This might not be the same cause as in the original post report but it appears to be the same effect.

  5. IN this attached zip there is the original scenario (attack) and a saved game (ItsGone.0046) -
    using:
    Westpac BS and HCDB2-170909 DB
    I played with GE 2024.003
In the saved game a unit from the group ZXS (now group ZVS) has been destroyed and it's sinking. In a moment the undamaged remaining ship in group ZXS will instantly sink.
Analysis shows that in the code the SinkEvent that was associated with the genuine sinking unit of group ZVS seems to have transferred to the non damaged remaining ZXS unit.
The sinking ZVS unit never sinks.
At the moment this is probably only useful as a funny distraction, I believe I need to go back and try to find when the 'transfer' of the SinkEvent occurs in order to determine where is the error.

  6. And here is this from HG current events:

The United States Air Force (USAF) F-22 Raptor made its debut at Exercise Pitch Black, Australia’s largest air warfare exercise. Deployed from Kadena Air Base, Japan, a contingent of six F-22s integrated seamlessly with a diverse array of allied aircraft, demonstrating the platform’s interoperability and combat capabilities. Lt. Col. Ryan Nickell, commander of the 27th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, highlighted the exercise as an invaluable opportunity to operate alongside partners from both NATO and the Asia-Pacific region. The expansive Australian airspace provided an ideal environment for the Raptors to showcase their full performance envelope.

Thanks guys, I would not at all be surprised if the corruption is either in the save game or load save process.  I would be surprised if it is autosave specific.

Yep, the auto save was another red herring. I was lucky enough to get another 'hit' last night where no iterative saves were involved. A some what smaller scenario but still a seemingly random trigger, although once it starts it seems to be consistent.

  8. From a recent post in HG Current Events:

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) conducted a series of intercepts involving Russian and Chinese military aircraft operating within the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on July 24. Two Russian Tu-95MS and two Chinese H-6K aircraft were detected, tracked, and intercepted by NORAD fighter jets from the United States and Canada. While operating in international airspace, their presence within the ADIZ necessitated a response from NORAD which dispatched F-16, F-35 and CF-18 fighter aircraft.

An idea for a small scale (not to daunting) scenario for anyone wanting to start writing and sharing HC scenarios.

Now with a little spare time to try these two scenarios.

As usually I did a little research on the platforms involved, and in this case found this curious novelties about HMAS Choules L100:

    - Installed a forward Phalanx mount (2018???)

    - Surprisingly, installed a luxurious CEAFAR (very probably CEAFAR-1S variant) AESA radar, four faces on top of the bridge, one in each corner (see photo), installed circa January 2024.

Here another image with the new four faces radar:

The first link has interesting comments guessing at why the ceafar was added and if it be a step towards some offensive armaments. RAN has a bit of history of swapping weapons between ships to meet deployment requirements so maybe some of those guesses will be close to correct. But I guess the old girl would succumb totally to anything much more than a flesh wound for a full combat ship so no matter her defences would always be a gamble putting her into hot waters.

    report running the test scenario

I noticed the firing of of aam against the orbiting missles in the same scenario but didn't think of the error it indicated or analyse like you have enrique.

In fact I just packed my cargo planes and cleared out.

Confirming that behaviour here same as OP using its attached scenario.

You need to launch your harrier immediately and get all radars on. For me Harrier radar do not pick up the missile, ship  radar does, and unless you manually conduct the intercepting fire of AAM the harriers (use F1 attack command) will not engage.
interesting 5 of 6 aim-120 hit mark, 0 of 5 sm-3 hit mark. I was too slow to get a chance to fire sidewinder.

  11. I've upload a toolbox revision that includes new function by which toolbox monitors the currently selected group and unit in the GE and applies the selection to some of the toolbox windows. By this you can now make selection of player groups and enemy units in toolbox by selecting them in the game, thus making it easier and quicker to perform many of the toolbox tasks.

This has required in some places significant changes to how procedures run so please let me know if you come across any misbehavior.

My best guess is that the problem, when it occurs, relates to the start of a saved game.

I'm certain that my base patrols for ABb were good when I saved the game, but now seemingly no matter which of the 40 odd saved games I open the group formation patrols are 'adrift'.

I'll see if I can duplicate in a simpler scenario, I'm wondering if it also relates to old scenario written on a previous ScenEdit? So I'll try some of my old simple test scenario form yesteryear.

I ran another old scenario (unfortunately one I'm quite fond of but had forgotten it, and got totally distracted playing it to a win), part way thru I had a save and restart and when I checked surface groups for their patrols one was incorrect with the telltale misdescription of the patrol in the formation edit popup.

This isn't such a big scenario but I'll see if I can prune it down and still get the error.
