Interesting Times, Part 2. The PRC has taken advantage of the chaos in the Middle east to support a coup in Angola. Scrape together some limited resources and kick them out.

  2. Spoilers apply... Just finished this one playing Red..... Looking at the RED side, I was at some disadvantage. No bombers, very few effective attack aircraft, and most importantly, no tankers. I would have to maintain a CAP over my surface groups with an average time on station of about 30 minutes. I got 6 SU-57's in the draw, and 12 SU-35's. These aircraft with their long range missiles would prove to be the key to winning. The other problem is that with no really effective attack jets, I would have only the missiles in my ship's magazines available. This meant that a premature attack would disappear in a swarm of enemy SAM's. The only sub close enough to make a difference was an ancient Kilo, with just a few torpedos. I worked on attritting enemy air assets, eventually shooting down most of the carrier's air group, with losses of my own as well. The English Typhoons had a habit of showing up at the worst possible time as well, costing me more aircraft. I used the very long range AAM's sparingly, concentrating on AEW and ASW aircraft. The Kilo got into range, and detected an inbound torpedo. It shot all six of its weapons, sinking a Norwegian frigate and minimally damaging both carriers. It then sank in a storm of torpedo fire. Now it was time for the main event. I launched 3xSU-30 and 4x SU-57 with SEAD ordnance, hoping that both of the enemy CG's would be silenced as the first wave of SSM's arrived. It was not to be- The carrier launched its last few jets, and most of the antiradar missiles (and all seven aircraft) were shot down. A volley of missiles from the Chinese group died next in a swarm of Ageis SAM's, and of a shot of 24X SS-N-26's, aimed at the American carrier, five got through and obstinately attacked a frigate instead. I thought that all was lost, as I would lose a gun battle with these folks, when the last volley of SS-N-19's got through and six hit the American carrier, giving me total victory at 4:09;05 to go. Quite challenging and fun, thanks so much.

In late 2017, the Americans launch an ill advised attack on Iran. Here is the first of a series of scenarios regarding the results. Escape from the Red Sea with a scratch team.

There is, carried by the MC-130H Combat Talon II.
  6. Might we see the LRASM in MK 61 VLS cells in this or a future version? Alaso, a niggle: Many versions of the NH90 helicopter have a Russian attack loadout in the "ferry" spot. Thanks.
  7. And another thing.... Almost all of the new USN/USMC F/A 18 family needs a Small Aircraft runway, making it impossible to land on US aircraft carriers. Not to be a pest, this is a beautiful thing you are doing....
  8. This is terrific. A few tiny things: INTL Helix A has 600+ NM range, seems a bit much. China BMBR H-6G Badger 15 has no radar. Will you be visiting the F/A 18 family anytime soon? THANKS
  9. Thanks, and thanks for everything. I did note that the US Fighter F-35B Lighting II 21 has no radar.
  10. I have noticed that the range of the various types of F-35 have been reduced dramatically. May we expect the same type of reduction in the F/A 18 family as well?
  11. SPOILERS APPLY Finished this great scenario a while ago. The luck of the draw gave me two subs, A Dutch diesel sub and a modern English SSN. I ended up with a victory, but really the bad guys won- I was careless with my submarines, heading straight for the target, and they both were sunk. I did "ration" my long range aircraft ordnance, resulting in the loss of a number of Tornadoes, but did sink the carrier with aircraft after awhile. This is a well crafted scenario, thanks Broncepulido for a great job.

Oscar the Grouch Sequel to "Eviction Notice". You have a stinky smoking disgrace of an antiquated carrier to defend the Motherland. And some nice surprises. BLUE only, for GE 2015.026 and later. This celebrates Brad's new HCDB2, thanks to all for all the hard work.

  14. i.e, more targets to destroy before all radars are gone. Got it.
  15. If there is no change in gameplay, I think it should not be a priority. Getting the ships/aircraft/loadout/weapons details sorted to Brad's satisfaction should be the first thing. I'm sorry to say that the next few years will provide us with many scenarios to model. Thanks!
  16. AAR- Tesseract SPOILERS APPLY This is a great scenario. It's pace is moderate, but it is a challenge. I achieved minvic after about 18 hours of game time. Things started out with ballistic missile attacks against the Vietnamese and Philippine bases, damaging them and destroying several aircraft. Curiously, Second Thomas Shoal and the Sierra Madre were not attacked. I ferried most of my A/C to Brunei and Ranai, supplying them with constant trips by my two precious transport aircraft. I did my best to stick with the rules about sorties, but there were a few violations. There are plenty of tankers as well, so that helped a bunch. Then began a long process of attrition of Chinese attack planes, trying to get to my (great) AEW assets above Ranai and Brunei. As I was running up the score against the land base air, J-15's started to appear, coming in with radars off. These proved to be no match for the AMRAAM's of the Thai and SAF F-16's, and an AEW helicopter was detected soon after. The Triton from Anderson was invaluable for this, and I was very careful to keep it safe. The Vietnamese surface force was discovered by a roving fighter, and two ships were sunk by ASM's (I presume). The carrier and escorts were heading due south, until the butcher's bill of Chinese aircraft losses got too big. North of them was the Vietnamese Kilo, and when they retreated they obligingly headed right toward it. Meanwhile, I was using HARM attacks followed by the F-15's to reduce the AAW defenses on the three islands. One by one the SAM's were destroyed, and with their aircraft gone all three are now defenseless against air attack. There was no sign of ASW patrols in the carrier group, and the Kilo sunk the carrier with 4x53-65K torpedos. Attacks against the escorts were unsuccessful, and with sonars active the sub was located and sunk. Status at this time: The Phillipines have lost 3-S260 and all of the OV-10's, mostly to missile attacks. The TA-50's were ferried to Brunei, where two were shot down defending the base. Vietnamese aircraft also suffered, with 1-SU-27 and all of the Mig-21's being lost in missile attacks, and three more SU-27's lost in an ill advised iron bomb attack. Two Thai F-16's were lost to fuel exhaustion. At this point, I can't say I have "won", because there is still 300 nm of submarine infested sea to traverse before the ships get to the islands. But their destruction is assured, so I may move on to other things, like "Niceguy", perhaps. It was great fun to put together an air force out of the motley assortment provided. Thanks for a great scenario!
  17. Brad, I agree. For the USA to bully Canada into purchasing aircraft that would be more valuable to the US (as an ally) than to Canada is unconscionable. How about something in a nice Gripen NG and a few more tankers?
  18. Thank you all. This old game has come such a long way under your care.

  20. 1) I'll bet that you are already on this, but how about the SM-6 ASuW weapon, maybe 12 per DDG or CG, DP around 12-16, range 125 NM? http://news.usni.org/2016/02/04/secdef-carter-confirms-navy-developing-supersonic-anti-ship-missile-for-cruisers-destroyers 2) Also, RGM 158C LRASM-A (VLS) range 380NM, AGM 158C (B1B, (12) F/A 18 (2)), range 450 NM, DP 76+ http://www.navair.navy.mil/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.displayPlatform&key=A947D40B-2498-4064-8EB9-6AFB47369DDB 3) Should the Chinese PL-10 have a range of 32 NM or so? Current 15 NM range makes PLAAF Flankers easy pickings... THANKS

So: If I upgrade my GE to 2015.27 and reload a saved game, will it behave properly, or should I finish/abort my game before I upgrade? Thanks
