Two issues that will need test scenarios (and testing) from intrepid players:
* tendency for aircraft in ASW formation patrol to drop sonobuoys in ineffectual clusters rather than randomly distributed within their assigned patrol zone
* aircraft under AI control to go to Vlow altitude while performing evasion, and aircraft under player control to go to Vlow altitude while performing auto intercept

Although ANW and Command don't, I believe?
I didn't spend any appreciable amount of time with ANW.
Early on with CMANO,I was being engaged by SAMs on the other side of intervening terrain, but I haven't played it in a while and I don't know if the issue was addressed.
It is interesting that Turkey is actually looking to acquire S-400 in the aftermath of the events in Syria.

Well the article does state that due to the geography of Syria probably more than one batteries are necessary to cover Russian assets, if I understood correctly.
Yes and this is true of any place, not just Syria. Intervening terrain or the horizon will affect any radar detection and engagement, something that HCE unfortunately tends to gloss over.

Well with that US missile strike against Assad's air base in April, perhaps the Russians want to try and see how well the S-400 can track Tomahawks?
S-400 has been deployed since last year around this time, so it was already present for the cruise missile strike. It would have had difficulty tracking or engaging any of the missiles then or in a new strike.

In order to preserve previous versions of the database, as already installed, you need to rename your 'commondb.res' file to prevent it from being overwritten by a new download version.
Database integrity is critical to scenario and savegame viability, on the presumption that the scenario was written with a different (and therefore possibly incompatible) version of the database.

Theoreticallly to protect the Bastion placement. Actually to show force, propaganda and support to the Assad regime. And as I suspect from years, only the "big" missile (46N6 I think) is actually deployed in the S-400 complex, and a very scarce number of them. For me only some 4-8 missile by complex, as more or less also described in the Jane's article. No trace of the two others smaller missiles in the launching system (I delete them from my personal DB long time ago).
The Bastion site has been there a while now. And while having S-400 present in-country has already shown support for Assad, adding a second battery does nothing to advance that objective.
I suspect there is something else going on here.

I do not know if I did not notice this before while playing but it seems in the latest version the spacing of sonar buoys seems to be a lot closer together the before. I had a osprey drop 30 sonar buoys operating in a formation segment drop all in a 10 kilometer line and was wondering is that normal.
A bug that I expect is related to the formation station keeping bug.

Aircraft with low turn rate - I specifically noticed it with AEW&C aircraft and large fixed wing ASW - seem to get stuck on a 000 heading on launch. Setting a new course doesn't seem to sway them. Unless you direct RTB and then set the new course.
Someone can put together a test scenario for Tony's review.

Some discussion of the issue in the HC beta testing forum here. Your comments/thoughts would be welcome.
