  4. Howdy! So there was a Harpoon timeline we had posted on the old site but we didn't list every Battle Set or re-packaging. That site is down and it will be a while before I have time to dig though the archives of the website looking for the HTML containing that history. I could use some help bringing the website and wiki back to life (I have hosting). Here is my collection (granted includes some other titles I contributed to over the years). The excess were donated to Stanford and the National Game Museum in Frisco TX. There was also a "Harpoon BattleBook" by James DeGoey and there is a MIT Press book called "Zones of Control" edited by Kirschenbaum and Harrigan that had one entire chapter dedicated to Harpoon. Other chapters were written by like Perla, Dunnigan, Caffrey, Herman, Bond, Tiller, Miller, Prados, Cole, Peck, and some clown named Gilman. In total 59 glorious chapters of wargaming ultra nerdism from paper to computers, from our homes to classrooms, and the Pentagon. Regarding Harpoon 3 Professional aka H3MilSim. Those were never released to the public and never had physical medium. Everything was electronically delivered and the customers printed their own manuals and duplicated their own images, then we would provide DM keys to allow the use of the product. 5. V3.11 Game Engine Beta 6 and HUD4 Database Beta 9 Update: We post updates to the HUD4 database and the ANW Game Engine here: http://wiki.computerharpoon.com/index.php?...W:311:ChangeLog These are not supported by Matrix until they are released. They are BETA software. Tony and crew also post Gunny's work here, I'm just trying to be consistent in posting the same information here, the friendly site, as we post elsewhere. Remember that we are asking for small ($5 USD) donations in honor of Darren Buckley, a major contributor to the Harpoon community, who died last year from Diabetes. It would be nice if everyone who is active in the community actually supported this fund raising effort.
  6. UPDATED 5-OCT-2011 ANW v3.11 This release was mostly about upgrading the H3MilSim branch to provide for real time integration with STK. However, Rusty also enhanced boarding actions with min/max values (so a zodiac isn't going to attack a destroyer) and adding boarding to the victory conditions. About a dozen bugs were squashed. Details (and beta) here: http://wiki.computerharpoon.com/index.php?...W:311:ChangeLog HUD4 As you may know the "HUD" has been the combined effort of many many developers over years. As indicated in the section header, many Harpoon luminaries have had a hand in the development of this database. In fact, it sourced other databases out there, usually without attribution. Regardless, HUD3 was very close to being finished when Darren Buckley suddenly died as a result of his longstanding battle with Diabetes. Gunny has taken up the charge and here he presents the first beta release of the HUD4 database. We were going to rename the database in Darren's honor but cooler heads prevailed and we are dedicating it to Darren and the other contributors. Final distribution of HUD4 is up in the air right now, because we wanted to do something more concrete than giving a nod to Darren. One way or another we are going to be making a monetary contribution to Diabetes Research in Darren's name. For starters, we've connected with the Diabetes Research Foundation with the goal of raising $500 in Darrens' name. Here is the link: http://diabetesdiplomats.kintera.org/hud4 Also note that HUD4 is also part of a forthcoming BattleSet based on Harold Hutchinson's book, Strike Group Reagan. If you are interested in lending a hand building scenarios, please let us know. From Gunny Fixes: many issues on sensors (active type with no RD value, Offensive ECM behaving as Defensive ECM, directors without Max Tracks...), weapons (altitude/speed envelopes modified), loadouts (comm mismatches with launching planes), ships and subs: mismatches between mounts and magazines. New platforms: sub-versions for some ships (French Tourville class), subs (Providence sub-Los Angeles class) and aircraft (JSF), new real-life ships (Lewis & Clark class, FREMM frigates for France, Italy, Morocco and Greece, KDX-III for Korea), future projects (French BRAVE future replenishment ships). Some fictional platforms such as the Type 48 destroyer for Royal Navy, Vladimir Putin and Catherine the Great classes of cruisers for Russia and many other. Future projected items: paratroopers load out for many nations, mine hunters being developed BETA LINK: http://www.computerharpoon.com/downloads/2...eta/HUD4_B1.zip
  7. Sweet! And how about scenarios for putting cargo ashore for natural disaster relief? DRG
  8. Howdy This is a "Pass down the line" from Uncle H. I'm looking for first hand accounts of professional use of Harpoon in the military (any military) over the years. The material will be referenced in an upcoming presentation at the Serious Games Conference in DC where I'll be speaking. Attribution and level of detail required by the source will be strictly honored. No SENSITIVE INFORMATION PLEASE. For those willing to share you can contact me via email (http://www.computerharpoon.com/contact). Thank you! Don "Uncle H" Gilman
