Defect Name: Patrol zones centred on wrong position
Build: HCE 2007.000
Repeatable: Y
Operating System: XP
DB used: HCDB-070524
Scenario used: Patrol zones centred on wrong position.sc1
Long Description: Formation patrol zones are centred on different positions and not consistent
This can cause major problems when trying to add new air or ship patrols.

Sequence to reproduce:
1. Change zone size for formation to 1nm, 2nm, 3nm, 4nm.
2. Re-position ships by ordering them to the same zone they occupied before the ranges were changed

3. Run at high compression to allow ships to move to patrol zones
4. Hit Formation editor.
5. Re-order Storm into it's zone (marked in Yellow).
6. Do NOT issue formation orders for any other ships.

7. Run at high compression.
8. Storm races ahead and 'out' of the formation.

Expected behaviour: Ship should move to assigned patrol zone relative to formation
Observed behaviour: Ship do not move to assigned patrol zone relative to formation

Hmm, this seems very odd. Does it do this with any ships, or only in certain Battlesets?

I'll check with a new build scenario and see if it happens that way as well. Just wonder if it's not the resizing causing the problems.

Akula, please do test with zones other than 1,2,3,4nm, that struck me as strange as well, no less valid but still it set off little mental alarms.

My results thus far have been strange.

Basically, none of the ships even made the slightest attempt to reposition after several simluated hours. They stayed in their starting positions relative to the fleet, with complete disreguard to formation editor zone size. Changing speed had no effect. Re-ordering the patrol zones has no effect.

Another thing I noticed was that the ships did not even start the scenario in the places I had ordered in the SE prior to saving. The maintained a set distance between the ships. Note that I used a group of all destroyers to make the group, is it possible that each ship class has a minimum distance it wants to stay away from the main body?

I have no answers and will post to Mantis: http://mantis.advanc...iew.php?id=2401

Moved to Mantis #2426.
Confirmed in 2008.002.
Related to 0002425?: Sub ignores patrol zone.
Related to 0002401: Ships not moving to appropriate patrol zones when selected in formation editor.
